E-Voting For Florida Community Associations - Requirements for Implementation and Best Practices
Electronic voting is a valuable technology available for both homeowner and condominium associations for elections and other member/owner votes. While the Florida Condominium Act (Chap. 718) incorporates a detailed statutory framework for condo elections, rendering the implementation of E-Voting fairly straightforward, the Florida Homeowners’ Association Act (Chap. 720) provides no statutory framework for elections. Instead, HOA election protocols are established by the governing documents, with such protocols varying considerably from one HOA to another. This requires for HOAs that the E-Voting procedures be custom designed for each HOA. In this Smart Board presentation, firm attorneys, along with Frank Valdes, Regional Director of Get Quorum, will provide a comprehensive explanation of the statutory E-Voting requirements for Florida community associations, and identify the best practices for implementation.
